Our Studio

Our studio has been sharing the joy of Ballroom & Latin dance with adults and children in the Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Port Orange, South Daytona, New Smyrna and Daytona Beach Shores communities since 2011.  We opened our new brand new studio at our current location in 2014.  The studio features a custom, 3,000 sq. foot spring-floor and faces the scenic Halifax river.

Our instructor is NDCA certified!  What is does NDCA certified mean?  NDCA stands for National Dance Council of America.   NDCA affiliation secures a standing with a group maintaining industry standards of instruction and professionalism in teaching. Only trained professional instructors hold this distinguished certification to teach. Well trained professionals can make the difference in the success and enjoyment of your dance instruction!

Branden Calnan

NDCA Certified & Registered Professional 

  • Branden started teaching dance in 2011 and teaches American Smooth and Rhythm.

  • Performs, teaches, and demonstrates dance throughout the community.

  • Holds a BA in mechanical engineering, a Professional Pilot Certification from Embry Riddle and studied Aerospace Engineering at Embry Riddle  

  • Founder of Bannister Hall Brewery in Smyrna DE. 

  • Branden brings all of his life experiences to his passion for Ballroom dancing. He also specializes in frame, posture, and balance techniques.

Kristina Y.

Dance Instructor

Kristina hails from the Daytona Area and has been a team member of the Oceans Dance Studio since January 2016.  

She has her Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Exercise Science, is a Certified Massage Therapist, and excels in body mechanics, motor development and learning, and physical activity as preventative medicine.  

Kristina's background in yoga, Pilates, modern and contemporary dance, jazz, and ballet has given her a well rounded foundation to add to Ballroom and partner dancing.

Joe Mounts 

Dance Director 

Joe’s Claim to Fame is his musicality. He believes strongly in the connection between music and movement in the body. He applies this to a variety of music genres and dance styles including Zouk and Kizomba/UrbanKiz.

His first dance experience began in the mid 80’s break dancing. His senior year of high school he was introduced to ballroom dancing and soon after became a Ballroom Dance Instructor in 1988. He progressed to the highest degree as he certified in bronze, silver, gold, and gold star levels in American smooth and rhythm dances.

Dr. Artur Kozun Phd.

Artur originally comes from Poland where he started to dancing at the age of 7. His competitive dancing brought him to more than 20 countries around the world. He has studied with the best coaches in the world such Pino Magnelli, Eugene Katsevman, William Pino and many more.

His PhD in mechanical engineering helps him to understand the human body and how it moves. Artur always repeats: “simplicity is the key”. He is able to explain the most advanced steps in the simplest way, so absolutely anyone can learn how to dance.

Artur’s competitive students are winners of countless top student prizes from competitions within the United States as well as Blackpool Pro-Am Dance Festival in England. He has experience in teaching dancers of all ages. International Ballroom and Latin, as well as American Smooth and Rhythm are Artur’s favorite styles. True smiles on his students’ faces is his most precious reward for being a dance teacher.
